I cleaned out my filing cabinet last night and found a piece of paper from when I was newly hired at my current job, over a year ago.
Written on the paper was:
- I remember what {CEO Redacted Name} said back in the Swyft days:
“This time is not forever. 9-12 months. That’s the timeline.”
I should be working every minute I’m on the clock towards the ultimate goal, because the timeline will not last forever. - I’ve also realized my current spot on Earth. I am:
– In Austin
– Single w/ Bachelor pad and Grind station.
– In Tech Sales. A certified hitter assassin.
– I can hold a conversation - This ^^ timeline is not forever at all. So I’ve come to the conclusion that I need to eliminate fear completely. Murder it, and be shooting shots left and right. Professionally, because that’s what I’m paid to do, but personally also, because
What do I have to lose? - Memento Mori – One day I’ll be dead. So for now, I’m gonna send shots and make magic happen like only I know how to do.
- I also should completely detach from the results, and take up meditation to learn how to manifest/grow. (LOL)
- Written 11/17/25: On that last note, I am writing this after having experienced 6 quarters and done well at my job. Here are the keys I drop in reflection.
- 1. Everything counts.
- Life is constant. The thoughts you hold in your head bleed into physical reality. That which you hold in your mind’s eye, the thoughts you steward, are the thoughts that come to pass. Time is the only asset; spend it wisely.
- 2. Take full responsibility.
- Until all outcomes for your life, even ones you don’t perceive as your own doing, are claimed as your own responsibility, then you have not understood yet.
- Something magical happens with identity when we take full responsibility. A person gains immense power over their own behavior, over their direction in life. This is the same reason judging others takes away from ones own self. We cannot know another person’s journey as we have never walked a day in their shoes, and never will. Worry about your own responsiblities, and the clarity that comes with that cannot be bought or sold.
- Your wins are YOUR wins. Your losses are YOURS, too.
This level of ownership is one that “they” don’t want you to take because it’s the only one that makes clear what you are and what Life is truly about. Try it and Dig it.
- 3. You are not fully in control
- Take full responsibility, and understand this:
- There is a time to win, and a time to lose.
A time to reap success, and a time to taste failure.
Both are gifts and both are part of the game. You Live.
The experience itself is what matters. The action itself, the reps individually, are what matters. - There is a force at play that gives what is deserved. The pain, the triumph, the love, the fear, the “Why?”… all of it. This is the conciousness by which all things are connected. You and I, the birds, the bees, the trees, the stockmarket, and that pesky prospect who just won’t say yes. There’s a reason. Understand that you will not know exactly why, but you must have faith, focus on Love inside of yourself, and trust the process.
- 4. Arena vs. the Stands
- You are fighting in the Arena. Stretching yourself, conquering fear, sending shots each day that may come up futile in the short term. It is all part of a bigger plan.
- Wolves don’t concern themselves with the opinions of sheep. If they saw the world the way you did, they wouldn’t open their mouth in criticism. But, everybody needs a hobby I suppose. Just a fact of life.
- The pain is the price you pay to play. Learn to Love it.
Cheers – alfredthedude
